Alana Blanchard

Alana Blanchard was born March 5, 1990 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Alana’s father and uncle were vagabond surfers who finally had moved to Kauai in the ’70s. Alana began surfing at the age of 4 and when she was 9 she started competing in surf contests.

Alana was present when Bethany Hamilton suffered the shark attack that cost her an arm. Blanchard also designs and models Rip Curl swimwear, particularly a line of wetsuits specifically for surfing.

Alana is one of the most famous female surfers in the world. Consider Alana’s 675,000-and-climbing Instagram followers, 200,000 more than Kelly Slater. Though Alana surfs and she surfs really well, she hasn’t won any World Tour surf contests.
