There is nothing
NOT to like about this surf movie. The movie follows these
7 extraordinary women surfing some of the most beautiful
waves in the world. Not to worry, this is not a bikini
movie. These women surf better than most guys. I was especially
impressed to see a segment on Lisa Anderson, who had faded
from the Pro circuit, but is still very much surfing and
ripping it up in the waves. The soundtrack is a mix of
rock and rap, which fits in well with the surfing action.
This movie is all about girls doing what they do best
- Having Fun! This is a definite DVD to add to your surf
collection.

Not to be confused
with the 2002 feature film of the same title, Blue Crush
is billed as the original all-girl surfer's movie. This
original Blue Crush surf film by Bill Ballard (Rochelle
Ballard's husband) has become one of the biggest selling
surf titles of all time. Starring the talents of great
female surfers like Rochelle Ballard, Lisa Anderson, Megan
Abubo, just to name a few. The film follows these pro
surfergirls around the globe to such places as Samoa,
Hawaii, South Africa and the Gold Coast. The soundtrack
is awesome and made me a fan of Morcheeba and other groups.
This film portrays the raw talents of these women awesome
surfers, who are not only courageous, but know how to
have a good time. One of our favorites!

An all around great surf
movie. Riding Giants begins with the first authentic history
of surfing from its humble Hawaiian beginnings to the
big business it has become. The footage of big-wave riding
will not only get you to become awe struck by the surfers
riding these monster waves, but you may find yourself
holding your breath during every drop in. Riding Giants
takes you on the search for the ultimate wave.

While touching on various hot topics such as safety training, serious wipe-outs, swell-tracking technology, and the competitive natures of big wave surfers, this film is a must see for surfers and non-surfers. The film footage of these men charging 60+ foot waves, is amazing in it's self that no one drowns during it's filming. However, it does touch on the fatal wave of Mark Foo at Mavericks, which seems to humble this group of fearless surfers. We are treated to a 3 minute segment on professional female surfer, Layne Beachley, who charges big waves along with her companion, Ken Bradshaw. We also catch a glimpse of hottie Brad Gerlach's professional surfing career, who has now become a big wave hunter. The film does start out slow, but the incredible film footage of these monster waves and the surfers who ride them, is definitely a keeper.

This adventure surf documentary
takes place in 1966. Bruce Brown follows two young surfers,
Robert August and Mike Hynson, around the globe in their
quest for the perfect wave. Endless Summer is beautifully
shot, thrilling to see, and with a soundtrack you won't
forget. Don’t be without a classic surf movie.
Get both Endless Summer and Endless Summer 2.
"The
Endless Summer" From Amazon.com
Twenty-eight years after
directing the hit documentary The Endless Summer, Bruce
Brown went on a similar quest with two surfers, Robert
‘Wingnut’ Weaver and Pat O’Connell,
to find the perfect wave. What is lost in innocence--which
The Endless Summer was rich in--is made up for in stunning
looks at pristine beaches on exotic and even unlikely
(for example, Alaska) shores.

This movie is definitely
worth having. If you've already seen it in the movie theaters,
then I'm sure you are about due to see it again. A good
story with awesome footage of women charging the waves
on the North Shore of Oahu. You'll see cameos of Rochelle
Ballard and Layne Beachley, along with Keala Kennelly,
who competes against the main star, Anne Marie, for the
women's title. The soundtrack alone is worth having.
